What has happened to the films since 2012?



SKYFALL Box Office 

  • First movie to take over £100million at UK box office
  • by 10th March had taken over $1.1billion globally (nearly £700million)
  • opening weekend UK over £20million (587 screens) 28 Oct 2012
  • opening weekend USA over $88million (3,505 screens) 11 Nov 2012
BUDGET is now reported to be $200million, about £130million

and now since the film was released in 2012;
currently 2013
  • it is the 7th highest grossing film of all time
  • highest grossing film ever in the UK
  • highest grossing film worldwide for Sony and MGM
SKYFALL- BAFTA for Best British Film

The film won several accolades, including the BAFTA Awards for Outstanding British Film and Best Film Music; the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture; and was nominated for five Academy Awards, of which it won two: Per Hallberg and Karen Baker won the award for Best Sound Editing, and Adele's theme song won Best Original Song.

Skyfall received generally positive reviews from critics; Rotten Tomatoes sampled 290 reviewers and judged 92% of the reviews to be positive, while the film scored of 81 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 43 reviews.

1.     The budget of the film My Brother the Devil was 1million


2.     The director of the film is Sally El Hosaini, she is a welsh-Egyptian writer and director also worked on TV at the BBC

3.     The production companies behind the film are Rooks Nest Entertainment and Wild Horses Film they have only made 5 other films.

4.     My Brother the Devil has won Best European Film, Best Newcomer in the London Film Festival, Sundance, Berlin International Film Festival.

5.     We haven’t seen any OOH advertising yet

6.     The different types of social media advertising we have found are various Twitter accounts also Facebook accounts, we also found self promotion and Tumblr blogs etc. 

7.     Other online advertisements we found were on the website of the production co.s and distributers.

8.     Verve Pictures were the distributers of the film in the UK; it was set up in 2003. Low budget film distributors.

9.     The type of Synergy we found was that the film used the song love, honour; respect by Joe Black this promoted both the film and the song.

10. My Brother the Devil was shown at few different local cinemas such as the Hackney picture house, Brixton ritzy, Wimbledon and all local art houses

11. The people that starred in the film were Said Taghmaoui, Fady Elsayed, James Floyd some of them have been on TV before such as Holby but others are new.

12. What we found out about the production of the film was that it was filmed in hackney, but during the riots so they had to move the production to Wimbledon, Many local people starred in the film also 1st time actors.

13. Because of the interest generated by the film a cinema club was started at the local community centre on the estate where the film was set.

Production:
It involves an original story, idea, or commission, through scriptwriting, casting, shooting, editing, and screening the finished product before an audience that may result in a film release and exhibition.
 It involves a large number of people, and takes from a few months to several years to complete.

Distribution:
There are many different ways that films can get from the edit house to the audience such as:
¨     Audience watch it in the cinema
¨     Find information about it on the internet
¨     Online movies
¨     Word of mouth
¨     DVD’s

Marketing:
There many different types of marketing films can be sold in a number of ways to different audiences for instance:
¨     Theatres
¨     Television and radios
¨     Internet: film reviews, social networking e.g. Twitter
¨     Print: paid advertisement in newspapers, magazines, inserts in books, and posters
¨     Pirated DVDs
¨     Online illegal streaming
¨     Trailers

Exhibition:
The different ways we engage with films today are:
¨    We watch them in the cinema
¨    At home online movies
¨    Rent/buy DVD’s online or in shops
¨    People sell illegal copies of films- pirated DVD’s
¨    Theatres
¨    TV- movie channels
